Social Sciences Summer Undergraduate Research Award

The Honours Social Psychology Program congratulates Rachel Cheung on receiving a Social Sciences Undergraduate Student Summer Undergraduate Research Award!

Mar 12, 2018

Rachel will be working under the supervision of Dr. Sandra Preston on a project titled “Undergraduate Students' Attitude-Behaviour Consistencies towards Myths about Sexual Assault and Sexual Assault Survivors.” She will be conducting a survey about students’ attitudes around common myths related to sexual assault and sexual assault survivors; she will also conduct interviews to explore how students would react as a bystander or an actor in scenarios where these myths are being reinforced. The results will then be compared to see if there are consistencies and/or discrepancies between the participants’ attitudes and behavioural responses. Rachel hopes that the results of her study will contribute to the larger goal of preventing sexual violence on campus.
