Building Connections: The Third Annual Social Psychology Networking Night

In early October, the Department of Social Psychology hosted its third annual Social Psychology Networking Night, an event designed to connect students with community partners and alumni who are making meaningful change in the field. Eight community organizations joined this year’s event, sharing their missions and insights with current students to help inspire their upcoming applied research projects.
The evening fostered lively discussion and encouraged students to see the real-world applications of their academic work. This year’s participating organizations included: Distress Centre Halton, Accessibility Hamilton Alliance (AHA!), Healthy Youth Network, The Mariam Society, Mike Fedchak Counselling and Psychotherapy, Routes Youth Centre, St. Leonard’s Society of Hamilton, and The HUB Youth Services.
The Department extends a sincere thank-you to all participants, as well as to Alumni Services, the Student Success Centre, and Careers and Experiential Education in the Faculty of Social Sciences for their continued support. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Erica Speakman, whose leadership and coordination through her course SOCPSY 3Y03: Applied Social Psychology helped make the event possible. The event’s growing success highlights the strength of community partnerships and the passion of McMaster’s Social Psychology students to turn research into real-world impact.
