Social Psychology introduces new Psychology Specializations!

The Social Psychology Program is excited to introduce two new Psychology Specializations in 2026-27. These degree programs are intended for students who wish to take a greater concentration of psychology-themed courses offered within the Social Psychology Program.
Students enrolled in the Honours Social Psychology (Psychology Specialization) (B.A.) will be required to take both SOCPSY 2E03 (Psychology of Intergroup Relations) and SOCPSY 2F03 (Psychology of Close Relationships), and their Level III and IV Social Psychology course selection will be restricted to psychology-themed courses offered within the Program. They will still be required to complete 9 units each from the Sociology and Psychology course lists, thus maintaining interdisciplinarity in their curriculum.
The Honours Social Psychology (Research Specialist Option with a Psychology Specialization) (B.A.). has the same requirements as the Psychology Specialization but additionally requires SOCSCI 1RM3 (How do we Know? Doing Social Sciences Research) and one of SOCPSY 3K03 (Research Experience) or SOCPSY 4A03 (Advanced Research Experience). This program is especially intended for students who wish to apply for research-based graduate programs in psychology.
Please feel free to contact the Social Psychology Program (socpsy@mcmaster.ca) and/or academic advising if you have any questions about these new Specializations.
Full details about all of our programs can be found in the 2026-2027 Undergraduate Calendar.
